A follicular unit typically consists of 1 to 4 hair roots, and these follicular units are referred to as a “graft”. These units are extracted individually from the scalp using the FUE method with a micromotor and then transplanted into the problem zone. The micromotor has a sharp tip between 0.35 to 1.0 mm in diameter – a hollow needle. The diameter of the micromotor is adjusted according to the size of the hair. The hollow needle’s opening is so large that the hair can be taken up inside the needle. The diameter of the hollow needle’s opening is calculated and set following your examination on location; it is individually adapted to the patient. This produces no visible scars to the naked eye. The growth rate is nearly 99%.
Most patients ask us “how many” hairs will be implanted and grow successfully. However, the success of the transplant can only be seen about one year after your transplant. Before surgery, no one can predict precisely how many hairs will eventually grow.
